surfing the apocalypse network

It might be tempting, especially in a beachside location or if you have friends that surf, to just grab a surfboard and go for it. Most of the older guys you see in the water these days did not have the benefit of surf schools when they where learning.

If you feel the call of the sun and surf pumping through your veins, it s time to find an instructor. The main shapes of surfboards are longboards, mini-mals, fish, shortboards and hybrids of these shapes. In most countries, surfing instructors are required to be accredited coaches through the governing body for that country.

It's a great way to test out surfing, and make sure it's an activity you would like to pursue before you put a lot of money into it. Created in the 70s, the fish is typically shorter and thicker than a short board and comes with a swallow tail and a larger twin fin set up. Make sure that the surf is safe before you go in.

Check out the surf spot while warming up. At the end of the day choosing a board is personal and you need to get advice from an expert.
