It's great because anywhere there are waves, chances are people surf them in one form or another. Surfing is the kind of sport where the person sits out past the break and is waiting for a wave to come so they can paddle and try to catch it before it breaks so that they can ride it and get a good ride.
That is because they wanted to make surfboards more durable yet light weight and easy to carry and use. Now is the time you have been waiting for, jumping up and riding on the surf board. And that's the whole point, right?
It traps a layer of water, which the body warms, then holds it against the skin, keeping the warm water inside of the suit. This kind of wipeout is very common with new surfers as they have yet to learn to read the waves properly and don't have the technique to rectify the problem, you will go over the falls so get used to it, it is no fun, but it will make you a better surfer the more you do it. Practice jumping up in one motion, standing side on and keeping the board planing if possible.
Watch out for sharks! If you are going surfing at a spot you are unfamiliar with it is a good idea to get some advice from a local.
