You may be fired up and ready to surf, but don t jump the gun. Thinking of buying a new board or are you learning to surf.
If they were not easy to carry and use then nobody would be surfing today because there are many people who have to walk for awhile before they can surf and nobody wants to carry a hundred pound wood surfboard. That is because they wanted to make surfboards more durable yet light weight and easy to carry and use. This is the place were surfing legends are made and broken.
At a surf school, you will start out on a foamie, or softboard, which will help you learn how to balance your surfing stance. This kind of wipeout is very common with new surfers as they have yet to learn to read the waves properly and don't have the technique to rectify the problem, you will go over the falls so get used to it, it is no fun, but it will make you a better surfer the more you do it. You have more fun surfing with someone else, always have someone to talk to and most importantly proof that you scored the waves you tell everyone about.
Follow basic surfing etiquette and you will save a lot of trouble. Once you are confident and can catch waves easily, you can attempt to stand up on your board.
