Choosing the right board includes a few factors, including your skill level, your size or height, and what type of surfing you want to do. Surfing lessons are all about taking your surfing to the next level regardless of how much experience, or lack thereof, you may have.
After you candidly rate your skill level, you can start narrowing down the type of board that will work with your skill level and help bring you to the next level. Have a couple of lessons first, maybe try a few different surfboards of various shapes and sizes, and then think a little more about what board is best for you. Even if you think you're going to get beat by the wave, just keep paddling straight toward the wave.
Kenny Matte of Haleiwa says that you start the kids when they come out of the womb, they came from water so they immediately go back to the water. Instead, consult the internet, sign up for lessons, go make a vacation out of learning to surf with an instructional vacation package and get yourself on your way to conquering your next sport. This is the best way to fast-track your surfing and have you ripping out the back in no-time.
So your fully decked out in your wettie, got your board and it's all waxed up and ready to go! So get yourself an instructor, suit up, grab a board and hit the beach!
