shark surfing

The North Shore on the island of Oahu has gigantic winter waves and is commonly referred to as wild water. Instead of thinking about how you re going to get your board into your car and how you re going to feel after your first wipeout, your most important thought should be what beach am I going to choose to get acclimated with my board and which beach is going to be easiest for me to catch my first waves.

Now is the time you have been waiting for, jumping up and riding on the surf board. A surf instructor will be able to offer professional surfing advice and guidance along with the added safety of being emergency medical trained. While there is definitely a lot more to surfing, these are two things to master.

It takes time to master the sport of surfing, but with the right instruction it can be easier than you think. There are midsize boards, often called funboards, which will give you the best of both worlds. If you want to try something different, there are standup paddle boards which give you a great ride and a full body workout.

The best way to learn to surf is to go surfing. Please, know your limits.
