surfing in costa rica

Don't go and paddle out the back until you have mastered the whitewater. Like most sports, the best way to learn to surf is to do it.

Deciding what to do is all just a matter of experience. There are ways to save yourself embarrassment, money, and expedite your learning time if you follow these easy steps. Save the drinking for after your surf.

At a surf school, you will start out on a foamie, or softboard, which will help you learn how to balance your surfing stance. The second type of a wipeout and without a doubt the most horrific is going over the falls, this is from not having enough paddling speed to catch the wave early enough, getting sucked up the face and pitched over with the lip. It also gives you time to check for any rips or where the best spot to catch waves is.

You should be a confident swimmer, and know the dangers and how to spot them. Practice makes Perfect.
