surfing cap

A few surfing lessons can have just about any water bug hurling down the waves in no time flat, and finding out through first hand experience what all the fuss is about. The local surfers out on the waves can lose their patience with newbies who don't know the rules and big surfing no no's.

Depending on the climate and water temperature in your area, you may need a wetsuit. Softboards are ideal for surfing newbies because they provide the best buoyancy and stability for beginners learning how to surf. It gives you something to look forward to after your surf and keeps you steady on your feet.

Some surfers really like longboarding, while others prefer the maneuverability of a shortboard. Stretch your neck, put your chin near the deck of your surfboard, and hurl your every thought and inspiration down the face of the wave as you paddle. Make sure that the surf is safe before you go in.

Good surfing instruction really does make a world of difference. If you are going surfing at a spot you are unfamiliar with it is a good idea to get some advice from a local.
