fishing kayaks surfing

If you been trying to surf and have felt unbelievably hopeless or frustrated, here are a few tips to help you get up on your surfboard and ride for longer. Hawaii is the original home of surfing.

Test the water first, you might be able to get away with board shorts, but I would recommend a rash vest also. Depending on the climate and water temperature in your area, you may need a wetsuit. Another North Shore Big Wave surf spot is Waimea Beach.

Paddling will get you out to the good waves, and paddling will help you catch one. Longboards provide great flotation and stability, but they are called tankers because they can be harder to maneuver around the waves. Non-surfing activities are also great for fitness which will always help your surfing.

Always have a quick warm up and stretch before entering the surf. You are far more likely to sustain an injury if you and your board are getting washed around together.
